In my brain, ‘wintering’ is romantic. Hygge, cozy. We turn inward, they say.
Guess what?? And I am sorry to report: This is NOT feeling like the case! I have some thoughts. And maybe some solutions.
In reality, there is still a lot that has to get done. In reality, or In New York, I want to do little to nothing. I cake my skin in coconut oil, but it is truly loving being dry. I think my brain moves slower, due to cold. This is all fine and I knew it would happen. And the best thing is that it will change.
But I’m always up for attempting to romanticize! So let’s try to get me to like Winter and do a :
BRAIN EXFOLIATION: WINTER EDITION!
Let’s begin with interiors. Sunrise/sunset colors, statuesque, warm.
I’ve selected two icons to look to for Winter Vibe Inspo.
First, Helena Bonham Carter. Frazzled, cozy, a bit displeased. Feels right.
Second, Francis Mallmann. Arch Duke of Winter Indulgence.
Every year on my birthday, I watch the Francis Mallmann Chef’s Table. He’s my fave chef — because of the way he cooks, sure — but mostly because of the way he LIVES.
The pragmatism of cold is refreshing in its simplicity. The only way out is through.
And perhaps best, even, to approach Winter with a sense of cuteness. There is much to be adored, a pervasive gentleness. I miss a good snow, where the quiet mutes everything. And your feet CRUNCH into this cleanness.
Next week: the first VIBE-BASED REVIEW. I’m so excited!
