It’s a new year! In the Gregorian calendar! Let’s get organized.

For me (and I am sure, for you) it is a busy couple of months coming up. In hopes of adapting to the circumstances and producing work as gracefully as possible, I’ve decided to restructure Palate Cleanse and see what happens. The idea is more focused work, more levity, and more bang for your buck.

When asked my dream job, I’ve often said: 1. chic psychoanalyst 2. high-paid businessman whose job mainly operates through socializing and dinners and 3. (and most impassioned one) FOOD CRITIC. But a little media secret? Those critic jobs are hard to get, often driven by Instagram metrics and PR. How many critics do you know that have actually done the work they’re writing about? I’ve long wondered what gets lost in that space between lived experience and the power to critique.

VIBE-BASED REVIEWS will be a monthly feature on Where to Go. Restaurants, bars, grocery stores, cafés, bath houses, and wellness-y places. More about what the experience feels like in the body and less about who owns the place. With an understanding of what the labor to present these experience actually involves, these vignettes will be both mindful and FUN! Is there any other way to be??
